For the Rainforest Alliance’s 2015 annual report, “Our Family Tree,” we sought to demonstrate the relationship between various aspects of the organization’s work while highlighting some of the people who make that work possible. Features included a die-cut cover, a table of contents organized as a family tree to show the links between each section, and die-cut inset panels that revealed profiles of individual partners.

Branding and bottle labels for Greenehouse Brewing Co., the home-brewed beers that I started making with friends. While each Greenehouse label includes the same basic information, I use each one as a space to experiment with new styles, techniques, and materials. The Strongman series and Blonde Bombshell were collaborations with Nate Finney.

With “The Elements of Sustainability,” we set out to define the key facets of that concept and show how the Rainforest Alliance’s work touched upon each of them. An introductory section used graduated-width pages to break down the components of sustainability, and within the main body of the report, the gutter gradually changed color from spread to spread, a reference to the transformative effects of the organization’s approach.

Branding for Durham Drum Lessons, the music instruction business of Dale Baker, a professional drummer based in Durham, North Carolina. “Connections,” the 2013 annual report for the Rainforest Alliance, focused on the organization’s main impact areas, with sections devoted to topics like livelihoods, community, and biodiversity. Inside, a center spread explained the connections between the Rainforest Alliance’s work in agriculture, forestry, and tourism with the help of a semi-transparent vellum overlay that revealed the shared aspects among them.

From 2010 to 2012, as a personal project, I kept track of every trip I took on the subway, and created poster-size visualizations for each year. The underlying map, while drawn from scratch, was conceived as a hybrid of Vignelli Associates’ Weekender map for the MTA and Eddie Jabbour's Kick Map, and owes a large debt to both.
2010–2012
Various marks and logos, created for a range of freelance clients and self-initiated projects.
